Located at the headwaters of the Arkansas River, and surrounded by the state’s tallest mountains, Leadville is a perfect place to relax and enjoy a truly unique Colorado mountain town at 10,200 feet in elevation. Home to the National Mining Museum Hall of Fame and an annual summer festival centered on mining tradition, the town still clings to its mining roots. Tours of old mines, homes and cabins are offered. For those looking for outdoor adventure and fun, Leadville is close to miles of trails, several large reservoirs suitable for fishing and boating and a historic downtown full of vibrant shops and restaurants.  In the winter, Leadville hosts a popular ski journig competition where a skier is pulled by horse and rider through an obstacle course. Ski Cooper, the training site in World War II for mountain troops, is just minutes away.
