NATHROP – Anatomy and Yoga Teacher’s Intensives w/Christina Sell
June 7 - June 10| $440.00
Alignment in yoga is multi-faceted. Often associated with do’s and don’ts of biomechanical action in asana, alignment is not limited to the physical practice. In fact, hidden in the midst of the physical cues we hear so often, are clues for aligning ourselves with the deeper truths of who we are and the deeper flows of reality itself. Far from rigid rules or dogma, alignment lives in the art of listening to ourselves and understanding who we are in each moment and how to respond.
That being said, a solid foundation of anatomy can help teachers ground their offerings in biomechanical knowledge so that the metaphysical aspects of asana instruction are straight forward, explainable and more concrete. This teacher’s intensive is designed with the seasoned practitioner and/or teacher in mind who wants to develop a deeper understanding of themselves in and through the practices and principles of yoga and who wants practical tools to help their students grow on the path of yoga.
Each day we will explore fundamental anatomy principles through lecture, demonstration and asana practice. Special attention will be given to understanding planes of movement, basic anatomical terms, and muscle recruitment techniques as they relate to general asana classes. THIS IS NOT A YOGA THERAPY TRAINING nor will it prepare you to diagnose or treat injuries in yoga. Participants can expect to walk away with tools and techniques that will make commonly practices postures come alive with greater depth and clarity.
