Wintersköl, Aspen’s annual toast to winter, celebrates its 67th year January 10th through the 13th. These four days of festivities date back to 1951 when Aspenites decided to celebrate their town’s unique Nordic lifestyle. Today, Wintersköl features everything from a canine fashion show and fireworks to a snow sculpture competition and musical performances.

Anderson Ranch Arts Center WINTERSCULPT Anderson Ranch Arts Center WINTERSCULPT invites community members to gather a team and participate in a fun and lively 48-hour snow sculpture competition. Teams work around the clock to transform their 8’ square foot snow cubes into freestanding creations.

Aspen History 101 at the Wheeler Opera House Aspen History 101, a theatrical crash course in local lore, was born from the Aspen State Teachers College. The performance, featuring actors and actresses and song and dance, resurrects the party-loving atmosphere of Aspen State Teachers College, arguably one of the more entertaining aspects of area history!

Apple Strudel Downhill Come to the race where everybody wins! Celebrate this longstanding tradition that started in 1988 when Gretel Uhl began making apple strudel at the Merry-Go-Round Restaurant.

Ullr Nights  Friends and family take an evening gondola ride up to Elk Camp for outdoor winter activities such as tubing, riding the Breathtaker Alpine Coaster, snowbiking, and s’mores and hot chocolate by the bonfire. Dance to live music and enjoy an a la carte culinary celebration sure to please any palate.

Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre at the Wheeler Opera House Enjoy the most beloved family show in the world, featuring physical comedy, juggling, acrobats from the Moscow Circus, highly intelligent dogs, and even house cats! Popovich, a fifth-generation circus performer who learned early on how to develop strong bonds with animals, has rescued a majority of his performers from shelters all over the country and transformed them into Las Vegas stars.
