If you don’t have plans for the upcoming week or for the Fourth of July, head to Greeley for the Annual Greeley Stampede. This summer event has so many activities and events, it truly has something for everyone.

From June 22nd through July 4th, Island Grove Regional Park in Greeley fills with spectators, amateur cowboys, and rodeo pros excited for events ranging from the PRCA Rodeo Series and Demolition Derby to American Bull Fighting and Cowboy Games.

The Greeley Stampede, however, is much more than cowboys and bucking broncos. Beyond the arena is Carnival Americana, where more than 50 rides and attractions await to elicit screams and thrills. A Kids Korral in the Stampede grounds entertains little ones with face painting, a grizzly bear show, the Innovation Station, and more. There are also national and regional musical artists playing each day at Extraction Park Stage, daily parades, shopping, a classic car show, art exhibits, and, at the end of the Stampede’s two-week run, a massive Fourth of July fireworks display.

The Greeley Stampede is rich in tradition and heritage dating back to the late 1800s. By 1920, the Stampede was the largest fair or festival in the world. Though it was started to honor local potato farmers, the Stampede has since grown into an internationally acclaimed festival attracting close to 450,000 people annually from all parts of the United States and several foreign countries, including Canada, Mexico, and England. The Greeley Stampede is the 2nd largest fair in Colorado and features one of the largest rodeos in the world.
